Colorado Vacation 9/13

It is our last full day in Colorado and we took a long drive through the beautiful mountains. We drove through Leadville and then over Independance Pass which is also the Continental divide.

The boys thought the best part of this trip through the pass was that they were able to throw snowballs at each other. It was great!

Here is our second family portrait for the vacation. It was taken at the top of the Pass.

Our second stop through the Pass was the Independance Ghost Town. It was an abandoned Gold Mining town that is now being preserved. This was one of the buildings rebuilt. Most of them are in ruin.

Like this one.

Our last and final stop was "Doc" Holiday's gravesite. I just happened to see the brown sign for this one as we were passing through the town of Glenwood Springs. This man is a living history of "Doc" although he is a bit old to be playing the part. "Doc" was actually only 36 when he died of consumption in a Glenwood Springs hotel.
