Update on Our Household

So far I have not been put to the test of having three kids on my own. Mike has been home for the last week and he has entertained the boys and kept them busy. He went back to work today, but his Mom and Dad have come over to help with the boys since school was cancelled today and they didn't have to drive the buses. I have, of course, spent much of my time with Keira keeping her well fed and happy. She is a pretty happy girl so far and she sleeps well when she is tightly wrapped and in her crib. Unfortunately, since Monday she has to spend 2 nights sleeping on a phototherapy bed for her jaundice. This hasn't been as nice for her because she has to sleep naked except for a diaper. The girl does not like having her clothes off. She doesn't like baths for this reason either. They are just not a fun thing for her. Because of the jaundice I have had to take her to the hospital every day and get her blood drawn. That has not been a fun chore especially with the snow and sleet that we have had the past couple of days. At least I have not had to take Cameron and Garrett out with me. We will see how everything goes next week when I have the boys and girl all to myself. It is very interesting to see the boy's different personalities come out since Keira has been born. Cameron is having a little bit of a hard time with it and it comes out with an attitude and disobedience issues. I hope that in a few months he is over it. Garrett on the other hand is the little nurturer. He wants to hug and kiss her and help feed her. He is very protective and gentle and always watching out for her. It is so cute. Here is an example of their different natures: At night when the boys go to bed I ask if they want to say goodnight to Keira. Garrett gives her a little hug and a kiss and I lift her up to Cameron's bunkbed and he tells me, "I already said Goodnight" meaning he said the words isn't that enough. I just wonder what her personality will be like.

Baby Update

I went to my Doctors appt. today and I am dilated to a 3 or 4 and 50 to 75% thinned out. We are making some progress but it is very slow. So, tomorrow morning at 6 am I am due to check into the hospital to be induced. Mike and I are very excited to meet our newest edition. We can't wait to see if it is a girl or boy. I am so miserable right now that I will be so glad to have the baby in my arms and not my belly. We pray that the delivery goes as smoothly as Garrett's. He was a cinch compared to Cameron. Pray that everything goes well and we will keep you posted. We do not expect the baby to come until tomorrow afternoon or evening.

No New Baby Yet

We still do not have a new baby, but we are in preparation mode. Mike went through the house this weekend and organized and cleaned everything. I have been washing all of the neutral baby clothes and the baby gear when I have the energy. I haven't felt like doing much of anything. I haven't had many contractions since last Monday. We don't really want the baby to come until this coming weekend or later anyway because my Doctor is on a cruise with her family this week. I would rather have her deliver than someone that I don't know. We are just waiting to meet our new little one. We are also very excited to see whether we have another boy or a girl. I'm not sure that we are so excited about the chaos of having three kids, but we adjusted to two after a time of craziness. There are going to be so many new things this year. New baby, Cameron starts school, and starting a remodel on the basement. We already have our vacation planned for June 7-14 to spend our first time in our actual timeshare unit in Branson. This is the first time that we have to take a vacation during the peak times because of Cameron starting school. It will also be a little challenging because the baby will only be 4 months old. That is the youngest that any of the kids have been on vacation. We'll see how it goes. Cameron and Garrett were both 6 months or older before their first vacations. The timeshare will make it easier though because we have a whole house just to ourselves.

Happy New Year!

I can't believe that it is already 2009. We had a very good Christmas with our family in Indiana. The boys received lots of toys from both families and so did the rest of us. It was all great fun. Our week following Christmas has been rather interesting so far. Mike came home on Tuesday of this past week with the flu. He hasn't been feeling very well since then. We don't know what is going on but it might be IBS according to his Aunt who is a former nurse. None of the rest of us have caught the flu yet. It would be really bad if I had it because I would have to stay hydrated for the baby. I took the boys to a New Year's Eve party so that they could play with some other kids and I could get out of the sick house for a while and socialize with some friends from church who I haven't talked to in a while. Today we had to go buy a new battery for the van because it has been stalling on us lately and I need a reliable vehicle to get to my Dr. appts. and the hospital if necessary. Meanwhile, we are trying to ready ourselves for the new baby who might try to make an early appearance. She/he is not due for another 3 weeks but I am already dilated to a 1 and I have had a few mild contractions today. We hope that the baby waits for a couple of more weeks at the least because we are not ready. I did make the announcements yesterday using the Xyron sticker maker that I got for Christmas from my brother. That made the process go a little faster. Well, that's all for now. We will keep you posted on the craziness from our household.
