Caterpillers to Butterflies

For Cameron's birthday he received a Bugville live butterfly treehouse. It is just a mesh container where the butterflies live for a little while once they are hatched. You send off to California for the caterpillars that come in a small container with food included. They are so tiny when they come but within a week of eating the food they are very big. There were five of them in the container that we received. It has been very interesting to watch the whole process of the caterpillar to the butterfly. After the caterpillars ate and became very big they hand upside down in a J shape and within a few hours they have formed their chrysalises around themselves. They are now in that form as I write. They have been hanging there for a few days. You move them from the container they came in to the treehouse that was bought. They should be in that form for about 4-5 more days and then they will emerge as butterflies. That will be so neat to see. We can then feed them for several days and then let them go in the yard. We have a butterfly garden out front so we can watch them feed off of that. The boys have really liked watching the whole process.

Your effort to encrypt your posting has been thwarted you didn’t know I can read webdings:) Caterpillars are so much fun. I grabbed one off my tomato plant last spring for the boys to watch. It made it to the Pupae stage and then died, so disappointing. I was hopping to find another caterpillar this year and give it another try. Hope your butterflies emerge soon.

Nice try I agree with Suzy. I deciphered the encryption as well.
