Halloween pics and Weekend adventure

I think the best thing about Halloween for me is getting to make the costumes. The best part for the boys is the candy and playing with the ninja swords of another kid that they walked with at Memaw and Pops. We actually go out twice, once at Memaw and Pops the night before and once at our house on the night of Halloween. It is so fun.

Cameron is a cowboy and Garrett is a hobbit from Lord of the Rings. They both love playing dress up and they will play with these outfits all year long. Cameron loves the boots so much that he has worn them quite often.

This year I decided to put the candy away right after they got it so they do not ask me for it constantly. This has worked very well. They still have a little candy that they can have after lunch and dinner. We took out all of the chocolate and put it in the freezer. This will last us a good portion of the year. The boys like the hard candy better than the chocolate anyway.

Now onto our weekend adventure. Mike and his parents took the boys to a Thomas the train display which they had down near the riverfront in East St. Louis. Yeah, they got to see the slums. Not a real great place but they had fun anyway. Probably not worth the money spent. I was at church demonstrating a christmas craft with the Threads of Life ministry. On Sunday we decided to have a picnic because the weather was so nice. We took Molly and the boys and headed to the park. Molly decided to do her duty right by the table unbeknownst to us. Garrett then proceded to step in it and get it all over himself. Unfortunately, we were all out of antibacterial wipes and the park had no soap in the bathroom. So Mike took him for a walk to find the nearest public restroom. They never made it because on the way Garrett triped and fell flat on his face which gave him a bloody nose and a busted lip. Luckily a neighbor was just getting home and they saw what happened and got some ice and paper towels to wipe him off. Meanwhile, I stayed at the park with Cameron and Molly. Mike came back about 15 minutes later with a popcicle and a bloody Garrett who still had poop all over him. We still wanted to go for a walk and I didn't want to go all the way back home to come back again. So we took Garrett's shoes and pants off and took him to the Dairy Queen down the street. Mike took Garrett in the bathroom to clean him up with toilet paper and soap because they only had air dryers instead of paper towels. He said that was fun. He said that he has never done laundry in a public restroom sink before. Now Garrett was relatively clean except for the blood on his shirt so we ordered ice cream. Halfway through the ice cream Cameron lost control of his and it fell all over the floor. We just had to laugh because it seemed that this was just the way the day was going. Finally, we made it on our walk which was a short one. What a day!

Update: We sent our money anonymously to a family whose only child a 5 year old has cancer. They need the money for the mounting bills.
